Brief Description or Sample: Leon was an LAPD detective (supposedly a homicide detective) working on a case involving Count D. Eventually, they began some kind of strange friendship that lead Leon to even allowing D to babysit his own kid brother. But where I'm taking him from, he was last seen searching the world for D.

As a character, Leon can be summed up as a "hard-boiled dick": tough and persistent at getting to the truth. But he isn't unsentimental-- on a few occasions, he can be chummy, and he does eventually soften up to D and his own kid brother. But because he's a man of action rather than thought, Leon can be a bit dull sometimes. Oh, and he curses. A lot.

Between the mask and the personality, one can be certain there is more to this strange man than first meets the eye. Kakashi gives the impression of being extremely laid back, easy going, and casual about...well, most everything. Often seen with his nose buried behind the lurid pages of Jiraiya's infamous bestseller, Icha Icha Paradise, he gives the appearance of being half-asleep or uninterested in anything around him. Others don't always understand or appreciate his dry, droll sense of humor, and sometimes his to-the-point remarks can rub people the wrong way (and he takes perverse pleasure in irritating people who react in ways that amuse him), but one only has to look underneath the underneath to discover that Kakashi is deeper, kinder, and maybe less stable than he seems on the outside.

Still haunted by the events of his past, Kakashi now values teammates above missions, but he is nevertheless unwilling to consider even those he is closest to as his precious people. After all, all of his precious people are dead. Some who know his troubled past, have worried that Kakashi is just biding his time until he could join them in the afterlife. Sadly, that may not be far from the truth.

Despite all these eccentricities, his hip-modern attitude and his dark past, he is one of Konoha's most skilled ninja and a true genius. He is a man of limitless contradictions and those contradictions have defined every sense of his being: casual, sometimes teasing, he is ultimately still reserved and aloof, distant from those that he holds closest. He is a loner who teaches the value of teammates and comrades, a pervert who never does much in the way of perversion aside from reading porn in public… More than anything, he seems to “not care” about those around him, when the truth is quite the opposite, as he displays a definite (if somewhat still reserved) interest in the lives and well-being of his teammates and comrades on numerous occasions. Sometimes, it seems, the person Kakashi’s façade is most trying to fool is himself.

Brief Description or Sample: Zaraki Kenpachi is a street-smart tough guy who likes nothing more than a good fight. It's really only in a fight that he feels alive, and he seeks out those moments. He's got standards, though. Not just any fight will do. He's not a bully. It has to be someone strong enough to challenge him, strong enough to cut him. Otherwise there's no point.

He spent a great deal of time in the poorer and more crime-prone areas of Rukongai in Soul Society, making a name for himself with his skills. But he also indulged in a slightly softer side, adopting a little orphan girl with pink hair who didn't seem frightened of him or blood. It's clear from his actions - taking her in, clothing her, feeding her, raising her, carrying her everywhere, even giving her a name - that he genuinely cares for the little girl, Kusajishi Yachiru.

Kenpachi's not particularly ambitious, but he will do what he needs to in order to get the best fights. For him, that meant becoming Captain of the 11th squad through combat. It puts him in a position to fight some of the strongest enemies possible and know that he's got the money to keep taking care of Yachiru. He's also gained the loyalties of a few men, something that he never felt he needed but doesn't mind having.

He's got a laid-back side on top of all of that. He's often ready to relax with sake on a rooftop, or to mock Kurotsuchi Mayuri, the leader of the 12th Division, among others.

Brief Description or Sample: Kyoshi is the Avatar hailing from the Earth Kingdom prior to Aang. She's a firm believer that justice can bring peace, which sets her apart from some of her future reincarnations. She doesn't mind if she has to kill her enemies if it means peace will come as a result, such as in the case of Chin the Conqueror.

She also doesn't take kindly to being ordered around by those in positions of power when the result would be (more) civil unrest. An example is a conflict in Ba Sing Se, where peasants were revolting and destroying artifacts of Ba Sing Se's heritage. The Earth King at the time ordered her to stop them, but she refused, took down the guards he ordered to arrest her, and then ordered him to listen to the peasants' grievances. It led to a compromise, where the Earth King let them have a say in how he ruled and she created the Dai Li in order to protect Ba Sing Se's cultural heritage. On looking back, she sees their corruption and notes that she didn't know they would turn out as they did.

Something else that's important to note is her serious attitude in regards to her role as Avatar. It's a 180 degree turnaround from her predecessor, Kuruk, who had been a practitioner of laissez faire and let everyone do their own thing. It could be a spiritual means on her part to make up for him.

Brief Description or Sample:PLEASE NOTE: At the current moment, the body he's in belongs to one of his sons, the youngest named Nigredo (well, Gaignun Kukai as he later renamed himself). They are constantly in a mental battle for control over the body and Dmitri currently has the upper hand. He of course uses this to his advantage. This doesn't mean that Nigredo is entirely suppressed however, so he is coming along for the ride.

Dmitri is a centuries old mental parasite. He's old, bitter, egotistical and only has one goal; to transcend "God" so that he doesn't have to be afraid of him anymore. In addition to this he is incredibly intelligent, our first introduction to him being him in the persona of a genius genetics researcher who has created 669 child warriors to do his bidding (of which Rubedo and Albedo are two). Any concern that he shows is a lie. He has no compassion or sympathy for anyone besides himself, which he demonstrates in being a sadistic jackass whenever he doesn't have to be nice in order to get something that he wants. However, even after all this, Dmitri isn't actually outright malicious, just obsessively focused on his goal. He doesn't want to destroy the world or rule the universe, he just wants to transcend god and won't bother with people who are not in his way.

Gaignun (Nigredo), is very different from his father. He's kind, gentle and really only wants the best for the people around him. This does not mean he is a push over however. Like Rubedo and Albedo, Nigredo was created to be first and foremost a soldier, and as such in times of stress he steps up as a leader with a backbone of steel. While he shares his brother's flashes of temper, he's generally much calmer and far more reserved, preferring to think things through before acting. This does not stop him from being a horrible troll and a tease towards people he likes. Unfortunately, his reservedness has the side effect of making him play things very close to his chest and to keep far too many secrets. These secrets end up biting him in the butt in the end and it would have eliminated a lot of problems had he just told certain people certain things.

The daughter of and advisor to the Northern Tribal Chief, Yue spent her young life being trained and trimmed to step into the life of a chief's wife and by the time she met Sokka, she was already betrothed. Shortly after meeting Sokka, Avatar Aang, and Sokka's sister, Katara, Yue gave her life to the slain Moon Spirit, and her corporeal body died. Even after her "death", Yue remained with Sokka, appearing to him in a vision.

Yue is a soft-spoken diplomat, and though more serious than most girls her age, she'd like to take a few steps back from her numerous responsibilities and be a kid again. She is certainly hoping a few days' of laying down her Moon Spirit-mantle at Adstringendum!

Brief Description or Sample: Romeo is, at heart, a very ernest and genuine young man. He's also a hopeless romantic. He's honestly in love with Juliet, but the fact is he doesn't know her very well, and he really doesn't know how to deal with his love for her being challenged.

He's very much a lover, not a fighter. Before his rather impassioned killing of Tybalt, he'd never really even been in a brawl, much less actually injured someone. In many ways he's painfully naive, and is going to spend much of his time at Adstring in a sort of confused culture shock.

Gido was the highly respected captain of the sky pirate airship, the Airbourne Aegis, and was regarded as the strongest and fastest man in the skies. Gido could be arrogant and cocky but he was a good person and never hesitated to stand up for the weak. He was also the former vessel of Zehel and one of the father figures Frau had when he was growing up. Frau looks up to him even now, and once aspired to be a great sky pirate like Gido. In fact, Frau has modeled much of his appearance on Gido and has even picked up most of Gido's mannerisms. It is also highly possible that Gido and Frau were relatives as the Ghosts usually choose their vessels among their descendents and both Gido and Frau are Zehel's vessels. Young Frau had in fact commented that Gido reminded him a lot of his real father (who was also a sky pirate like Gido).

Gido was a righteous man who believes in helping the weak, never bowing down to those in power and of being the master of himself. He lived strongly by the air pirate maxim of 'Yield not to the strong and show humility to the weak. No one can control us but ourselves.' He also led his men to steal only from illegal freight ships and gave all the goods he confiscated to the impoverished.

He let Frau join his crew after the troubled boy helped him win a hawkzile race and also because he knew how much Frau longed for the freedom of an air pirate and to be like his father. He often teased Frau and could be rather harsh and even violent towards him especially when little Frau misbehaved. He also employed some rather extreme parenting methods towards dealing with Frau (like kicking him off a hawkzile in mid-flight to man him up...) but he really did care about Frau a lot and was always there to save him whenever he got into trouble. Gido was a great influence on the young, impressionable Frau.

Capella is the little sklave (slave) boy Teito and Frau save just as they are leaving the 7th District to begin their journey to Seele. Capella is around 5-6 years old and is overall a very innocent, loving and impressionable child, who can rather timid at times though he does learn how to become braver from Teito and Frau. He's also very obedient and a quick learner. His mother was forced to sell him as she was too ill and poor to care for him herself. She sold him with the hope that he'd be able to find a good master. Capella can be rather understanding as he doesn't blame his mother for what she did and just wants to see her again. He is very grateful to Teito and Frau for saving him from the sklave trader, and looks up to the two of them. In fact, he wants to be like Teito when he grows up. Teito and Frau promise to help him find his mother again.

To Frau, Capella is like a son to him and he's very fatherly and loving towards the young child, and often gives him piggyback rides. Actually, Capella does look quite a bit like Frau and Castor even calls him Frau's 'illegitimate son'.

Teito and Frau eventually manage to find Capella's mother and returns him to her. It is also revealed that Capella is actually a rather talented Zaiphon user, especially at his young age, and is able to use both attacking and healing Zaiphon. Most people can only use one kind.

Lem was a talented medicine maker and one of Labrador's (Ilyusha's) important childhood friends. Lem and his younger sister, Lirin, were orphans who were taken into Krat House (of which Labrador was the heir to) because of Lem's talent. Krat House is famous for its healers and medicine.

Lem was a very friendly and energetic person, and a good brother to his sister. Labrador was very introverted as a child and it was Lem who helped him open up.

Lem was forced to betray Labrador which ultimately led to Lab's death. Plus his own sister died from illness soon after Lab's death. The impact of their deaths drew Lem to despair and he eventually fell victim to and sold his soul to a Kor. The Kor helped him forget his sorrow and bring back Lab's corpse, yet Lem still felt that he'd forgotten something very important. This eventually drove him insane.

He's now a Wars as his soul has been taken over by the Kor and he is essentially a living corpse, yet he still retains his human conscience and his one wish to forever protect 'his most precious treasure' - Ilyusha/Labrador.

When he arrives here, Lab will be able to drive the Kor from him and purify his soul, but he won't be able to send him to Heaven like he should. Lem will stick around till the event ends after which he will be sent to Heaven.

Nadeshiko was Sakura's mother who died possibly from illness when Sakura was 3. Nadeshiko was very sweet and loving, but also very clumsy and rather ditzy. Nevertheless, she did try her very best to be a good wife and mother even though her husband is much better than her at cooking and housekeeping. She was a very sunny and cheerful person who brought a lot of joy to those around her. Sakura takes after quite a bit in terms of personality and appearance, especially their identical green eyes. Even after her death, she continues to watch over her family as their guardian angel.

There's a lot one can easily say about Beast Boy at first glance. First and foremost, he's essentially the jokester within the Teen Titans that live in Jump City. Him and Cyborg are known to play pranks throughout Titans Tower, but unlike Cyborg Beast Boy is often more extreme about what he does (although, in one episode, he learns to reel in his joking nature to not go as far as hurt other people). He's light-hearted to the point that in desperate and serious situations he often says something silly to try and break up the mood. In a way, however, this is only to do just that.

He grows as a character, however, and we end up seeing the more darker sides of his personality as well as the brighter parts. Beast Boy isn't as happy as he often makes out to be, playing up jokes and trying to keep the others going, as he blames himself for a lot of things. What he believes he can fix or things he did wrong, Beast Boy holds against himself for a long time. He still blames his parents deaths on himself as opposed to anything else. He blames what happened to Terra on himself, as well, and never lets it go.

With Terra, however, we get a more mature side of Beast Boy. There's a lot of small facets we don't get as in depth with many of the other characters. He shows kindness and earnestness to get her to stay with them, but also his belief in his friends. Beast Boy is difficult to make give up hope when it comes to the people he believes in, not only occurring with Terra but other times, such as when they thought Robin was dead.

Anders is a very complicated man, desperate and passionate, driven and needy, determined and tormented. His past is a long and troubled one, full of crushed hopes and dreams nearly gone. But that’s not all there is too him. He’s still got a softer side, as well as a flirty one.

When one first meets Anders in game his determination and passion are both evident. He’s a runaway mage, someone who can legally be taken in at any moment for escaping, and he puts himself in the player character’s way while declaring that he’s made the clinic a place of healing and salvation, demanding to know why they threaten it. This is where he’s poured himself into, a free clinic for those who can’t afford anything at all. Other evidence of his determination is that he’s escaped from the Circle, where mages are held and controlled, dozens of times. The punishments have gotten progressively worse when he was recaptured, up to and including a year spent in solitary in a cell, but he doesn’t stop escaping.

Anders is tormented. The year in solitary, being woken up by being kicked in the head by Templars (the people who oversee the mages), failed escapes, having his cat taken from him because it was ‘making him too soft,’ they all contribute. But there are a few things that overshadow those issues. The first is that he is possessed. After befriending the Spirit of Justice, they both realized Justice needed a better host body then the corpse he had, since the corpse was falling apart. As they had many interests in common, especially equal rights for mages, Anders offered his own body. At first this was an acceptable arrangement, though it took a lot of getting used to. But Anders’ anger at what’s been done to mages has caused Justice to sometimes become Vengeance, and they lose control. At one point in the story, if Hawke does not have a strong enough friendship with Anders, Vengeance/Justice/Anders will kill an innocent mage girl. Anders is aware that his control is slipping and that he may be losing himself. It’s a hard realization. The second overshadowing torment is the death of Karl. Karl was another mage, Anders’ first lover. He was not in love with Karl, but Karl was important to Anders. After devising a plot to get Karl free of the Circle, Anders and the story’s protagonist, Hawke, go to the rescue. They arrive to discover Karl has been made Tranquil, which is essentially a lobotomy procedure that only works on mages. Karl is no longer himself. When Justice emerges, enraged, Karl regains himself for a few short moments, long enough to ask Anders to kill him. Anders does. Both of these examples also demonstrate how Anders’ hopes are fading and provide reasons as to why he grows more determined to make a change in the world for the betterment of mages.

But Anders isn’t all doom and gloom, no matter how much time he spends writing a manifesto on how Mages should have rights. (Which he leaves everywhere in Hawke’s library, and all over Hawke’s entire mansion if the player romances him.) Anders is also a flirt and a tease, more than happy to find a good one-night tumble. On his first escape to Denerim from the Circle Anders went straight to The Pearl, one of the fanciest brothels there. Having him and the pirate Isabela in the party together results in them recognizing each other from a one-night stand, leading to the comment about his ‘electricity thing.’ He’s also the only companion in the game who initiates flirting and pursues the protagonist without needing the protagonist to hit on him first.

His softest side is demonstrated in his love for cats. In the poorest area of the city, where even he admits that residents are probably eating cats because they’re hungry, Anders sets out milk for them. When another companion reveals that there’s a batch of kittens in the marketplace, he expresses a desire to find them, especially an orange tabby. Previous to the events of Dragon Age 2, Anders had an orange tabby that he named Ser Pounce-a-lot, a gift from the Hero of Fereldan. This was the cat that was taken from him. When he was much younger he’d left illustrations in his class notes and books of a tiger taking out Templars and saving him, also named Ser Pounce-a-lot. Should the protagonist have a dog, Anders tells it to be a real pet, ignoring him until it wants something and sits on his head.

Anders spends a good bit of time joking around before things start to get grim in the third part of the game, especially with the Dwarf, Varric. They crack ‘walk into a bar’ jokes, make Templar jokes, and talk about what they’ll do to one character when they find him again:

Anders: Boiling in oil.
Varric: Too prosaic. Trapped in a cave with hungry bears, right at spring thaw.
Anders: That lets him off too easy. Dipped in molten gold and left as a statue in the Viscount’s Keep.
Varric: Ooh! That’s poetic.
Hawke: What are you two talking about?
Varric: What to do to Bartrand when I find him.
Anders: Any suggestions?

He uses this humor as a defensive mechanism, keeping people at arm’s length while he figures them out. Anders has been hurt enough times in the past that he has trouble trusting, and he knows that humor makes things lighter. He refers to his past with jokes: “Most people enjoy being kicked in the head to be woken each morning. Me, I’m just so picky.” Danger even gets a comment: “We’re going down into that? Figures. Ooh it’s an unstable crumbling chasm! Let’s go and play in it!”

Anders also has a temper, and this is where Justice starts to bleed through. All of the above is definitely who Anders is, but he has been host to Justice for around seven years now and he is starting to lose track of where he ends and where Justice begins. Anders’ rage at injustices, at abuses, at waste, are both him and Justice. Even though Anders’ anger has begun to turn Justice into Vengeance, Justice still epitomizes, well, Justice, and seeks it at every opportunity. Justice sometimes lashes out in a rather blind fashion, striking down any in his path while being fixated on his goal. This is how the mage girl Ella almost died in my game, and did die in the games of anyone who didn’t have a strong enough friendship with Anders to pull him back from that brink. In other words, if Anders is furious at something that can be seen as an injustice, he can lose control and lash out as Justice/Vengeance.

Justice, as he resides within Anders, deserves some attention of his own. As a spirit that doesn’t know much of the living world, Justice is often naive and sometimes confused. He has access to Anders’ memories, as well as the memories of his first corpse host, which helps him understand some things, but his view of the world is extremely young. His general attitude is that if something is wrong, it must be set right, and there must be a way to set it right. All injustices should be addressed. That’s not idly playing around with the word justice, as the spirit is Justice. He is the concept and seeks the fulfillment of that concept. Justice is determined and driven to fix all injustices he sees, which sometimes means he causes more conflict rather than solving anything.

For the most part Justice is in the background in Anders’ mind, influencing and attempting to guide, but he’s not in control. At the times he is in control, though, Anders has little to no influence, and it is Justice alone. These times are visibly marked by Anders’ eyes glowing blue and his skin appearing to tear in many places, showing the same electric blue. This is because Justice, on his own, appears as a blue energy being. There is no change in Justice!Anders’ appearance when Justice lashes out as Vengeance. The only change is that instead of reacting with a focus on what is right, Vengeance!Justice!Anders reacts with a focus on brutally ending what is wrong at any cost. It’s the difference between righteous anger and unguided rage.

Despite his almost childish personality, Peony is very responsible when it comes to ruling his own country and takes into account his people, and the words of the council.

His country is one that has been trying for peace through out the game, and the point I'm taking him from after the unanimous closing of the score and Luke sentences himself to death by creating a hyper-ressonance that will neutralize the miasma.
