Haha, well, he'd never make Hermione do anything she didn't want to do, but a little assistance would make it a little easier. ;) Less chance of scarring himself... more.
I wouldn't put it past Sokka to always have feelings for Hermione, though by the time all of this comes around, he won't think himself worthwhile enough to think she'd ever return the feelings. That being said, I think it could very easily slip out at some point and totally make for awkward times now and forever. \o/
