HEY THERE! me and my friend have been looking for a game to app samwise gamgee and frodo baggins from The Lord of the Rings to for awhile, but understandably, we have some issues that need clarifying. so, to get in character, i've gone to the trouble of doing all the legwork - reading all that i can, making a dreamwidth personal and posting all of our questions in one place - while she sorts out her stuff.
- SO FIRST OFF: we wanted to take them from during the trilogy, which poses the largest problem we're having: the ring. what should we do with it? we both think it's a bit too important to just magic away for this, and she's worried frodo might come off as a little boring without it, since thats where most of his negative traits come from. without the threat of the nazgul or sauron, i can understand how being able to turn invisible at-will via a magic ring would be a little bit game-breaking. i was thinking it might be alright if i filled out something for the ring wraiths at the bestiary to at least keep some sort of threat with it active, but since they used to be human and are minimally sentient, im not sure if they'd belong. on the same token: since the ring just shifts the plane of existence you're on and makes you invisible to mortal beings, not straight turns you invisible, im sort of confused how that would work here, being that everything's kinda... smushed together. - if we take them from the trilogy, sam will have his pack. i'm gonna go ahead and assume the lembas bread is out of the question, given its special characteristics, but it would have a lot of survival tools: elvish rope, various skillets, flint and tinder and sleeping bags. would this be acceptable, or is it too much? i'm willing to lessen what he has if so. - LAST ISSUE IS frodo's other belongings, namely sting and the phial of galadriel. would these be acceptable for him to have, or would that also make things a little too easy?
I THINK THATS ABOUT IT i didnt present hobbits since it doesnt seem like they'll be much of an issue
