Brief Description or Sample: Shinji Hirako is far more than meets the eyes. Which is good for him, since ones first impression of him would be a shiftless fashionista without a single care in the world for anyones opinion other than his own. But underneath his near-constant smirk lies a mind as sharp as they come, capable of quickly deducing the true nature of other people and almost any situation he's in. He's a man who faces certain death without fear, who fights for the sake of his friends and to protect those who cannot protect themselves... while at the same time being a shiftless fashionista without a single care in the world for anyones opinion other than his own.

Despite having once been a highly-ranked member of a gang of samurai psychopomps living under strict rules and moral guidelines, Shinji makes no attempt to censure himself or hide behind a false smile. He believes one should always act according to ones true nature, and if people don't follow you and you command no respect it is simply because it isn't in your nature to lead or be respected. He's a trickster who doesn't lie or obfuscate- he just withholds the truth or shows you his cards in such a way as to trick you into thinking you have him figured out. He's a flirt who claims every pretty girl he sees is his first love, yet does nothing to make himself more appealing to someone elses tastes.

His refusal to change who he is and constant sarcastic jabs are abrasive, yet he has the ability to adapt to even the greatest of changes. He's shifty enough to plot five steps ahead of everyone (except the cheating CHEATERS who plot to infinity and beyond), pragmatic enough to do whatever needs to be done to ensure victory and courageous enough to lay his life on the line without a single moment's hesitation when the situation calls for it. Seldom has a man's superpower been a more fitting description of himself: he can twist peoples vision so that up becomes down, back becomes front and left becomes right. In fact, one could (if one had to make a far-fetched yet semi-relevant simile) say that is Shinji Hirako in a nut-shell: always twisting others perceptions so they're always looking at him from an angle that gives them an incorrect image... but still an image of HIM, and not some illusion.

Brief Description or Sample: The sounds of laughter floating on the wind and the small of sake wafting by... each brush of the breeze on his skin became colder and colder, sinking into the very depths of his soul. He could still see behind those sightless eyes Kiyone and Sentaro falling over each other, drunk, goofing around and making fun of something silly. He could hear his own reprimands for their poor work ethic in his ears, filling in the gaps as his heartbeat slowed. And Kuchiki, Miyako and Taichou, too, amused, watching on as the three of them went on as they always did. There was such a calm atmosphere, a feeling deep inside that made a fear he didn't know he had until the very end fade away like the sake-scented breeze.

How he wished to return to it, to that time when there was no pain or sorrow between comrades. He wanted to return to it, but had no regrets leaving it behind.

It was fine, he reasoned. Fine to die, doing his duty. Fine to fight for his beloved and the squadmates who died. Fine to die holding on to his honor and pride. One regret lingered, despite it all being 'fine' for him. His hands touched her small back, his mind and heart clinging to the last few seconds of life within him, stubborn to the end. He knew he could never make up for it, not for this. He couldn't apologize enough in the few remaining breaths left inside him. He was truly sorry. He never wished to ever hurt her, to hurt anyone. It was simply... too late to think about it and that stubbornness that led him to this point, that led her to thrusting her blade through his chest would still be there, even if he had to do it again. He couldn't turn his back on them, on Miyako. So instead, he had to give Kuchiki something to hold on to. He had to remind her of the most important thing.

Never die alone.

Brief Description or Sample: Having literally no memory of his life pre-mortem, the nameless zombie prefers not to look back on the past; partly because he can’t. He has next to no interest in finding out what sort of person he was, or the reason behind his death. It’s Hanna that’s more interested in finding all that out. Which makes sense; they are friends, so of course Hanna wants to help him out. However he’d much rather live in the moment, and take life as it comes. Afterlife. Whatever. His reasoning behind working for Hanna is that it seemed like the right direction for him to take.

Zombie may appear to be very cold and emotionless, but this is far from the truth. He actually feels a great deal of emotion, however his body language and social skills are incredibly lacking. When Hanna starts making a tally of how many times he smiles, he is surprised to discover he doesn’t do so very often, and has made a vow to do just that. His emotions probably don’t stand out much because he is very calm and collected, usually. He’s a deep thinker, and most of his dialogue in-canon is inner-monologue. This makes sense; he narrates the tale, after all. Despite his collected exterior, if someone messes with Hanna, he is quick to get involved. He’s very protective of the man.

He has a pretty healthy sense of humor, according to Hanna. He’s quite witty, and to a lesser extent could probably pull off a snide remark or two. Of course he would keep them to himself.

After several traumatic events, she has developed a severe temper and a tendency to lash out violently when surprised or angered. Brief Description or Sample: Kaito is the father of Akito/Agito Wanijima and leader of the special police force called Windstorm G-Men. At first he was thought to be Akito/Agito’s older brother, but then it was revealed that he was in fact his Father. He has a tendency to treat them very harshly, such as physically abusing them. While it may seem that he has little regard for their wellbeing, that is far from the truth. Protecting them and making sure he doesn’t lose them like he lost their mother has always been first and foremost in his mind. That and getting revenge on the ones responsible for it, which is his main motivation throughout the series.

He is ruthless to his enemies and is nearly willing to do whatever it takes to stop them. Him being a cop does limit how far that is unless the circumstances allow for it. He is loyal to his comrades just like they are to him. Everyone on his special squad were members of a street gang that he ran. When he became a cop, they followed him. He is highly intelligent, getting into the top university in his country when he attended college. He shows this intelligence in a combat situation as well. He’s able to come up with plans or tactics fairly easily and can execute when without the enemy knowing.

Brief Description or Sample: Now, see, when you die there are certain things you expect {pain, darkness, the light at the end of the tunnel etc. pp.} and certain others you, well, don't expect at all {giant mecha bunnies, buritos, a surprise Math test} - you think about these things at night when you're still alive {of course} and feel very certain about your understanding of them.
Thing is, life and death don't do clear-cut, don't care about being sensible. Logic is usually an extravagant luxury full of glittery scales that flake off all-too easily. Silly to believe in, really.
And that, ten tangents later, might be an explanation as to why you have another supposed-to-be dead lady walking around in the city.
Nora remembers the moments that were supposed to be her last, remembers, too, that she had been at peace. Finding herself alive is rather a shock after that-
even if nobody can tell with how straight she is carrying herself, full of purpose and energy. It's not fear that hurries her steps, not for herself that is. The frenzy that has her tackle the city like this is all for her son.
And the Heavens help you if you decide to stand between this mother and her quest to find Hope. Remember: moms are tough; we have all heard that sentence by now.

Minako is vibrant, enthusiastic, and all around a very normal girl. She's happy and encouraging to her friends, optimistic and ambitious, and at her core very kind. She throws herself wholeheartedly into things she cares about, though her priorities aren't always great--she loves food and boys and clothes, but school is an afterthought--and she's so determined she can usually pull off whatever she attempts.

She's outwardly confident and slightly self absorbed, but she's also the leader of the senshi and as such has a big burden on her, and she worries about her capabilities as a leader at times. She's flighty and a bit of a ditz, slightly naive, and not always the most realistic of people. But she is a very good person who loves her friends dearly and sees a lot of the best in other people without being blind to the danger in the world.

Brief Description or Sample: Imagine Aang. Korra's the complete opposite. She's a fighter, fierce, and never backs down from a challenge. She's an accomplished waterbender, earthbender, and firebender (the latter seeming to be her most preferred in a fight), but her inability to connect with the spiritual side of bending and everything has created a block when it comes to airbending or... really anything related to the spiritual side of being the Avatar.

She's still got a lot of growing up to do, and she's learning every day. Kind of comes with the territory of being raised in isolation for the majority of her life.

Currently, she's trying to quash an anti-bender movement led by a guy named Amon who probably has twenty contingency plans to go along with his charisma and the power to back up what he says and drive fear into the heart of every bender, including the normally fearless Avatar. When she's not fighting Equalist chi blockers, Korra spends her spare time learning airbending from Tenzin (Aang's younger son) and competing as the Fire Ferrets' waterbender for probending matches.

Mako's personality has a bad habit of getting buried beneath her reputation. Rumor has it that she was kicked out of her old school for fighting before transferring to Juuban Middle School, and her physical prowess as well as her confrontational tendencies make this very believable. This reputation has led a lot of people to avoid her despite it being a large misunderstanding. The misunderstanding, however, isn't that she doesn't fight. She is pretty quick to resort to violence. It's that what fights she does get into are because she's trying to protect a victim. She'll even go so far as to interfere in gang violence to help a complete stranger, as is shown when she's introduced. When asked why she wears the uniform she does rather than the traditional uniform of the school, she says it's more her style. It is actually similar to the signature style of delinquent female gangs in Japan at the time.

The most noticeable traits Mako displays are her persistence and aggressiveness. The combination has molded her into a unique blend of outgoing and independent, both willing to be friends with people and yet separating herself from the pack at the same time. Much like Rei, she is usually seen as being strong, and she tries to uphold this image. This doesn't only apply to physical strength. She supports her friends emotionally - trying to be observant, talk them out of ruts, and make sure they're happy, even if it means convincing a rival in love to follow her heart and do the right thing even though her intention was to convince said rival to leave so she could have a chance with her man. Mako is quick to fight, but she's also quick to apologize. She's just not afraid to take the initiative, no matter what the initiative is. She seems to live by the motto "Que sera sera" - whatever will be, will be - but she doesn't use it as an excuse to sit back and let things happen. She uses it as an excuse to take risks because whatever the consequences, they may just be worth it.

Even though she's generally considered a tomboy, she actually has very feminine and domestic hobbies. She loves to cook and is constantly complimented for what she makes. Flower arrangement is another hobby, she's a talented ice skater, and she's even known to enjoy cleaning. Above all, though, she has an overwhelming habit of instantly crushing on anyone who resembles her old boyfriend or "her sempai who broke her heart."
