Suggested by ![]() For the whole month, some of the local birds will be very territorial in the areas they've set up their nests. Should human or animal wander too close, they may find themselves divebombed by an overprotective parent, usually the father. The instances may not be too common, but you may want to watch where you're settling down. For quick reference, here's a wiki page. |
Suggested by ![]() On the morning of the 8th, there's a light rain. Only 2 cm (~.7 in), nothing unusual. There's 4 cm (just over 1.5 in) on the 9th which still isn't a big deal, but 16 cm (~6 in) of rain on the 10th as the winds start picking up may be cause for concern. On the 11th, the rain will stop, but it's only a short break. The 12th through 14th will see a massive rainstorm pounding the city, bringing the total rainfall to 256 cm or just under 8.4 ft by the time the storm finally heads out to sea. We sure hope no one's living in the caves when the ocean level rises and people can find high ground away from the river. |
Suggested by ![]() The heavy rains earlier in the month have had more consequences than just new structures getting flooded. The local animals have also had their homes flooded and are going to be wandering through the Safezone looking for new shelter. And they don't care where they look. So maybe you'll have a temporary roommate until they start heading off to the Wastes or elsewhere. For an idea of what critters may come waltzing through, please refer to the updated lists. If you want to submit a creature from your character's world to join the invasion, feel free here! |

BESTIARY EVENT — ANIMAL/BEAST SIGN-UPS
Please note this is not for pet-related submitting, but if you have any questions regarding pets don't hesitate to shoot us a PM.
Re: BESTIARY EVENT — ANIMAL/BEAST SIGN-UPS
Classification: Shadow
Physical Characteristics: The Maya shadows resemble black blobs with arms and a mask sticking out. They wear the mask on their "face" in the middle of their body.
Diet: Minds of living people (their victims turn into a vegetative state.)
Habitat: Dark environments. Can be found during nighttime only.
Lifespan: Unknown
Additional Information: It's surprisingly agile for something that doesn't have legs to run on. It's prone to attacking upon spotting a person (unless they can sense said person is way stronger than they are, then they run away in the opposite direction as fast as possible.) Aside from physical attacks, they can also use small bufu (ice) spells.
Picture: Here you go!
And here, if you want a ready 100x100 icon!
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: Yes! :D

We'll add your submission to the bestiary during the event.
Re: BESTIARY EVENT — ANIMAL/BEAST SIGN-UPS
Classification: Arachnid
Physical Characteristics: She looks pretty much like a regular spider, but huge-- seriously, the thing is bigger than a house. She presumably eats her prey just like regular spiders eat insects-- immobilizing them with venom, wrapping them up in a web for later, and so on.
Diet: Prefers troll children, but will branch out and eat anything-- including humans and other Adstringendum residents.
Habitat: Caves and caverns. Quiet slow, and doesn't move around much on her own-- she prefers to wait for her prey to come (or be brought) to her.
Lifespan: Unknown
Additional Information: Since this is a specific creature, it might not be acceptable for this (there are lusii of all sorts in canon, but more than one of the same type is never shown; for all we know, Vriska's lusus was the only giant spider lusus in existence), but I figured I'd try anyway! She's also dead in canon, if that makes any difference.
Picture: One, two
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: I think it'd be interesting! But I'm not married to the idea, especially since I'm not sure she'd be acceptable even for just the plot.

BESTIARY EVENT — ANIMAL/BEAST SIGN-UPS
Classification: Beast/Animal
Physical Characteristics: These massive snow rabbits can grow to be the size of a grizzly bear, and have a attitude and viciousness that can equal or even rival that of said grizzly. They're highly intelligent and very capable fighters and don't take too well to anyone or anything invading their territory. Mostly seen standing on two legs, the Lapahn species can roam on all fours for increased speed, agility, and maneuverability - especially while jumping and running. Their forearms have sharp, non-retractable claws and their teeth and long and pointed.
Diet: Carnivorous.
Habitat: Extreme cold, preferably the caves or winter months when snow is plentiful. Can be seen during late and sometimes early fall months, when the air is dry and cool as well.
Lifespan: Unknown within canon, but could be several decades, not exceeding perhaps four.
Additional Information: Lapahns are pack/group hunters. It is very rare to see one alone. Because of this, and the fact they are so intelligent, a direct confrontation is unwise and plainly suicidal.
Picture: Here.
And here, for a 100x100 icon.
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: Yes!
Name: Humandrills
Classification: Beast/Animal
Physical Characteristics: Looking akin to large baboons ranging in size from an average man to nine feet, humandrills are pack/group hunters with a sole patriarch, which usually is the largest and strongest of the troop. They can be seen wielding weapons and even wearing armor, as these extremely intelligent creatures tend to mimic what is done around them.
Diet: Omnivorous.
Habitat: Mostly plains and/or forested areas, but they are curious animals, so they will wander into human dwellings and civilizations just to observe the goings-on and perhaps copy what they see people doing.
Lifespan: Unknown in canon, but estimated to be no more than 30 years.
Additional Information: Humandrills are the literal embodiment of the phrase "monkey see, monkey do". They are very smart and adept at learning on their feet and catching on to using and implementing tools, weapons, and even armor effectively and very quickly. Because they are basically the copycats of their world, it's been said that Humandrills dwelling next to people that are docile and nonviolent will, in turn, be the same way. Those that have lived in war-torn or violent places will thus be conditioned to live and act similarly. And yes, they can copy a person's fighting style, if they're a weapons or even a fighting master.

Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: Yes, please!
Name: Sky Fox
Classification: Beast/Animal/Pet
Physical Characteristics: Usually small and with a brilliant white coat, Sky foxes only differ from normal arctic foxes in that their snouts are elongated and generally look almost trunk or proboscis-like. They are also about the size of a domestic house cat or small dog.
Diet: Omnivore.
Habitat: Plains and wooded areas, or anywhere they can feel comfortable.
Lifespan: Unknown in canon, but estimated to be no more than 12 years.
Additional Information: Sky foxes are very docile, curious, and intelligent creatures and make marvelous pets. They can understand human speech very well and are loyal and devoted to those they care for.

Classification: Beast/Feline
Physical Characteristics: It's Yellow and has brown triangular looking stripe pattern on it's back, arms legs, and on its forehead. The small cub sized Kyawls are hornless but have gray/white colored mane, while the adult kyawl has horns and less cute. They are rather big in size. The cubs are about baby bear sizes and the adults range from tiger to lion sized.
Diet: Fruits and tree nectar
Habitat: forestry area, woods, and anywhere they can eat fruit or have tree sap.
Lifespan: Not sure, they live for a while.
Additional Information: They are rather harmless and friendly. They don't eat humans and they usually get along with most people. If you do not upset it, it won't attack you. If you upset it, or kill its babies, well let's hope you can run really fast.

Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: Yes please? They're cute adorable and totally adoptable~ The little ones maybe.

WENDIGOOOOO
Classification: Supernatural Creature (used to be human)
Physical Characteristics: Long, skinny, grey in pallor and ugly as sin. They're shells of a human's former self and are wrinkly with horrible teeth and scarce hair on their heads. They have very sharp, unfun claws.
Diet: People. Though if starving, likely anything fleshy.
Habitat: Dark places, usually forests where they're more isolated, they lurk in caves and places under the earth they themselves can even burrow; the one in the series lived in a mine, for example.
Lifespan: Immortal until killed.
Additional Information: The creature is capable of a lot of nasty tricks in order to get its prey; it can mimic voices to lure people to it, and it has a keen sense of sight and smell. It's also very fast and very strong; normal knives and guns aren't very effective, but fire is an easy way to take them out, and straight up silver, according to Supernatural canon.
Picture: Oh gross.
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: ACTUALLY YEAH WHY NOT? Just a few cannibal monsters out there no big deal right.

Flying Monkeys
Name: Flying Monkeys
Classification: Beast/Animal
Physical Characteristics: Ugly, dark-haired, mean little monkeys with sharp claws that go flying around and causing misery. Eyes are red.
Diet: Likely, shockingly, herbivores, but are vicious in nature regardless.
Habitat: Usually a dark yucky castle in Oz. But adaptable to any place.
Lifespan: 10-15 years
Additional Information: They are originally the controlled creatures of the corrupted Wicked Witch, scattered and confused by the lack of their leader and regardless a terrible foe for anyone who doesn't have shounen powers. They swoop in and play dirty, carrying up prey and dropping them, working together to dismantle some poor soul, or just flat-out going for the gouging. Yick.
Picture: Not very pretty.
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: If it seems acceptable, yes!

Oni
Classification: Yokai
Physical Characteristics: Oni are super large in general; they stand tall ( about seven feet or taller ) and have a wide build. Their most distinguishing features are their horn(s) on their head and large spiked iron club that they wield. Their skin can come in a variety of colors but the most commonly depicted is red.
Diet: They have a nasty habit of eating people.
Habitat: Anywhere that's habitable.
Lifespan: A really long time.
Additional Information: Though incredibly strong, Oni are typically not very smart. They can speak basically and understand human languages but are very easy to trick or escape if need be.
Picture: Here! Such lovely fashion sense, I know.
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: If it's feasible! If not at least they can terrorize people for a little while.
( now in the right place! this is what happens when I try to submit things at 6:30am with sleepy fingers whoops )

Rabbit Yokai
Classification: Yokai
Physical Characteristics: Anthropomorphic rabbits; typically depicted as beautiful women with rabbit-like features though males also exist as well.
Diet: Herbivore
Habitat: Forests, plains, etc.
Lifespan: Also a really long time.
Additional Information: They - like kitsunes - are considered tricksters and like playing pranks on humans. They are a bit more easily startled and flighty though they will take interest in people that do not appear to be hostile.
Picture: What babes.
Would you like to see this animal added to the bestiary long-term?: Nah, I just think I'm being funny.

they can terrorize sam a littleno subject
Classification: Sprite/Pet
Physical Characteristics: While their sizes vary, no Sprite is taller than one foot. Their appearance depends on the type of environment in which they spawn but all sprites, no matter the element, have wings and two long antenna sprouting.
Diet: Varies. Most are omnivorous and enjoy insects and berries.
Habitat: Varies. Ice Sprites live in cold habitats. Shadow Sprites in dark habitats. Nature in forests; Light in bright areas; Rock in mountains; Plague in barren wastes; Arcane near gems and knowledge; Wind in plains; Fire near magma and desert; Water in aquatic regions; Lightning in areas near natural or artificial electricity.
Lifespan: Unknown.
Additional Information: No Elemental Sprite is inherently evil, nor are any inherently good. They represent their elements and their personalities generally match. For example, Ice Sprites tend to be introverted while Wind tend to be flighty. Plague are tricksters that can appear at a moment's notice and aren't afraid of attention, while Shadow are tricksters that dislike attention.
The different elemental subsets don't hate each other, but they often have playful rivalries with opposing elements or elements similar to their own. Shadow and Plague in particular tend to enjoy playing pranks on each other or interfering with the others work.
Sprites are very hard to capture yet make wonderful companions to the lucky few who manage to snatch one from their environment, or intrigue one enough that it decides to stay of its own free will. If you live in an environment suited to a particular sprite's element you might find yourself with an unexpected house guest!
Sick with the Red Death? Enjoy your new Plague companion! Do you have a library of books and knowledge? Hello, Arcane! Large gardens will bring Nature, and electronics and machinery will bring Lightning.
